Professor Mike Leake is one of the most well-rounded martial arts/hand-to-hand combat instructors you will find and holds the distinction of black belt in multiple martial arts. Professor Leake has been training Gracie Humaita Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for more than 15 years and earned his black belt under J.W. Wright, Royler Gracie, and David Adiv. As a continuous learner, he has traveled the country training with many of the top practioners in the sport of BJJ, including Marcus Hicks, Jeff Glover, Rafael Lovato Jr., Kiki France, Ezra Lenin, Octavio Couto, Lucas Lopes, Andrew Wiltse, Allen Mohler, Carlos Machado, Royce Gracie, Marc Laimon, and Andrew Cargill.

Professor Leake is dedicated, passionate, and strives to be the best at everything he does. He brings pride and excellence to the Leake BJJ academy as he imparts knowledge to his students and challenges them to do and be their best. He is both a highly effective coach and a fierce competitor. As a coach, he communicates concepts and techniques in a way that enables students from all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels to succeed and he makes it a priority to be on the mats rolling with students as they continue to learn and improve.

Before beginning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Professor Leake began his hand-to-hand combat journey in boxing at age 11. While continuing to train he was also coaching and working the corner for boxers. He then expanded his personal training into the martial arts Kali, Silat, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). He spent years training under Jeff Sprawl and Steve Todd, to earn a black belt in the arts of Kali and Silat. In addition to competing in BJJ, he has fought both amateur and professional bare-knuckle MMA.
